Heather's Travel Philosophy
In my 21 years of living, I have been incredibly lucky to have traveled. Traveling has changed me as a person, has made me a citizen of the world, broadened my perspectives and has been incredibly scary and thrilling at the same time. Traveling allows me to appreciate and understand different cultures but traveling alone allows me to appreciate and understand myself, too.
To be alone in a foreign country is an experience that everyone should have.
I’ve learned more about myself as a person getting lost in Paris in the middle of the night, taking a train through northern Taiwan by myself, or journeying to an elephant sanctuary in Thailand. Traveling has allowed me to make temporary homes around the world and make forever memories. It’s incredibly humbling to meet people from around the world and share their opinions and dreams and fears. Having an open mind when traveling has not only benefitted me but also the cultures in which I have been immersed. Eat the local food, take public transportation, and talk to people. You get out of this life what you put in so take risks and embrace the opportunities to experience what this world and the people living in it have to offer.
